Disneyland Park was the only theme park that was built and designed under the supervision of Walt Disney himself. Walt Disney came up with the idea of biulding a theme park where kids and adults could go and have lots of fun together, while he was watching his two daughters in Griffith Park riding the merry-go-round. He also came up with the idea because of his father's memories of his work, where there were many attractions and rides. Walt initially had started with an 8-acre plot across Riverside Drive and then he started to visit other theme parks to get ideas and inspirations. Later on, Walt started to investigate new methods of fundraising so he created a show called Disneyland. Construction on July 16,1954 which cost $17 million to complete.

Disneyland Park opened on July 17, 1955 but was only opened to invited media and guests. Even though 28,000 people attended and only half of those were actual invites, many of them snuck in or bought counterfeit tickets. The day after, the park opened to the public which had twenty attractions and the opening was televised nationwide, but was a total chaos. It was a disaster becuase the temperature that day was over 101 degrees and their was no water fountains , vendors ran out of food, and asphalt that had been poured in the early morning wasn't dry all the way so women's heels got stuck. The actual opening day to the public was next day, so large crowds gathered around 2:00am to try and be the first to enter. In 1990-2005, tons of construction started like the remodeling of Disneyland Hotel, construction of the Grand Californian's Hotel/Spa, etc. Later in the 2005s, Disneyland celebrated the "Happiest Homecoming on Earth" which was an eighteen-month-long celebration of the fiftieth anniversery and Disneyland's milestone of all Disney parks worldwide.
